Werner Heisenberg has passed into history by the principle that bears its name. It goes on to say that at the level of elementary particles can not accurately determine the position and velocity of these, as the refinement in the measurement of one of the two variables affect the measurement of the other.
Throughout the twentieth century science has been progressing under the long shadow of this principle that has somehow been jumping from one scientific discipline to another. Physics in itself, but also in chemistry or economics, comfortable linear, quadratic and cubic have been giving way to the statistical functions. Before we asked to a function we accurately determined the final result from a given factor, now we settle (because we know that the accuracy does not exist) with the function gives us an approximate value most likely.
In the background is the same: we wanted an accuracy not possible before, and now we agree with an inaccurate tolerable. It is more comfortable to think that 2 +2 is usually 4 to be saddled with an exception that confirms the rule.
Why all this? Because in this blog are going to see many numbers, percentages, ratios, but they all spring from a subjective conception to gauge things, always subject the hue but, I hope, the further from the inaccuracy that the boat soon quick assessment to which we are used both when it comes to football.
