Interview Juanmi Garcia in the Copa Coca-Cola

During the 3 and Jan. 4 was held in Murcia Regional Phase Coca-Cola Cup Under-16 2010/2011, where I had the opportunity to witness the finals on the second day of competition in which only two teams (from the 40 who participated) would achieve the qualification for the second phase.

addition, we chat with the former goalkeeper of Zaragoza, Deportivo and Real Murcia, Juanmi Garcia, Coca-Cola coach whose role in the Cup will assemble a mix between players not qualified for the Second Phase .

Carlos Perez: What are you looking this new edition of the Copa Coca-Cola?
Juanmi Garcia: Well, the truth is that is a real incentive for the kids, to participate in a competition, the organization is taking you all a fantastic and well, is a way to motivate kids to work and all teams to continue working with the quarry.

Murcia precisely the quarry has achieved very good results recently. How do you see Coca-Cola selection ahead of the national phase?
Well, there are some very interesting players, and if their teams are not ranked, both my assistant and I can select Yepes. I think you can make a good choice.

Does time of 35 minutes during the games to watch 22 players?
thing is that yesterday we saw many games in a row, we were all day that look now. It is difficult, because so little time and few matches to see a player, but hey, those with quality or something special that sets them apart from others, can see immediately.

We often say small 'in a hundred players, only one comes to the elite. " Of all the kids who take part in the Cup, "will some 'crack'?
never know, especially for how old they are now, we're talking about children who fail fifteen years, then it is very difficult to know if anyone will come. But as I said there are a few, at least we have seen, they have ways and that can become something, what happens is you have to keep working, they have to keep improving. Above all, the clubs must care for and train them well to continue to improve everything.

Did you get to participate in any competition of this kind?
No, I have participated in many tournaments, but in a competition like this, nationally, with all teams are entered in the Copa Coca-Cola, no. It's what I say, is an incentive and motivation for the kids, is very nice because they are over a thousand teams that participate, then to be among the best, as champions of your seat or being selected, I think it very important for players who take part.

Let's talk about your career as a professional. Started in Cartagena, and thence to Real Madrid Castilla, how does this offer?
Because with 16, 17 Cartagena debut in second, agreed that debuted against Castile, whose coach Del Bosque was that I saw and liked my approach. They took me there, I did a test and I stayed.

In Zaragoza you're there, maybe your best time, or at least that you have revealed to you.
Yes, where I started, which debuted in the Primera Liga, where they were nine wonderful years, international was also won titles ... well, it was one of my best times if not the best.

You lived very close to winning hand in the European Cup [in 1995], how was it?
Well, something wonderful. I played until the semifinals, and then I was injured three days before the final and therefore could not play it, but it was impressive. While not playing, the power to do so in the semifinals and be there on the computer, is the most you can get any player. That, and especially go to selection. I've been lucky enough to go.

Finally, you walk to La Coruna to play Deportivo, where not did nothing wrong. Did you get as a substitute for Molina, or planned to stay a little longer?
No, I had two-year contract, what happens is that my wife, who is also in Cartagena, was never adapted for the cold and rain. Well, we decided to come here to retire and Real Murcia. I spent four years, the last of them a little bit bitter because I did not play much after coming from a very good season, and decided to get rid of this thorn in bringing me to Tarragona. The Nastic, when I saw it was my end, I chose to retire.

But ultimately, still tied to the world of football with these events, do you see in a future coach?
Well, I am now goalkeeping coach Cartagena, also a school I've ridden with my assistant goalkeeping Yepes, where we have 43 children, we are very happy with it. As a coach, yes I would be in some future, but that will be dictated life.

Finally, Albacete and Real Murcia were the two teams who earned a ticket to Valencia, where they will compete for a spot in the finals in Barcelona. Manchego team beat on penalties by FC Cartagena very intense match that could be anyone. At the other end, Murcia won 2-0 to progress in a game dominated by scarlet. Most parties, full of intensity and nice for the fans, evidenced by the high level of the kids who took part in this competition.

We had everything in the more than 15 games were played all day on Tuesday. I especially liked the derby between the Cartagena-La Union and the Cartagena Ephesus, when the victors the last for a minimum. For its part, also highlight the match between the Guadalupe and Ranero B, decided in favor of Betis on penalties.

In short, a great day of youth football in which we enjoyed very good football. I can only thank the team of GMR Marketing sympathy and especially its treatment and Guillermo Prado Cecilio del Valle. I leave you with some photos.
